[Remote] Product Counsel, ERISA & Operations @ Human Interest

They are seeking a Product Counsel, ERISA & Operations to provide legal guidance on ERISA, IRC, and fiduciary matters while supporting customer-facing and product teams in developing a modern 401(k) recordkeeping platform. Responsibilities Serve as the in-house ERISA expert, guiding the company’s mission to expand retirement plan access for small and mid-sized businesses Provide real-time, practical legal guidance on ERISA, IRC, and fiduciary matters, ensuring operational compliance and translating complex regulatory requirements into actionable, plain-language advice Advise on plan sponsor and participant questions, reviewing disclosures and communications for compliance, and supporting the product team with subject matter expertise as new features are developed Skills 5–8 years of substantive ERISA experience focused on qualified retirement plans At least two years in a law firm setting Proven ability to advise non-legal teams in fast-paced environments Experience with operational compliance, fiduciary rules, and product or technology-driven legal issues Admission to the bar Collaborative, cross-functional approach Deep ERISA expertise Strong business judgment Fluency with AI tools in legal workflows Benefits Offers Equity Company Overview Anchored by our flagship community, TechGC, The L Suite is the executive peer community where CLOs & GCs turn to make better, faster decisions that propel their companies forward.
