Job Description:

  • Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field
  • Manage assigned territory and targeted accounts
  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives
  • Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations
  • Handle objections and gain calls to action to close sales calls
  • Serve customer needs and build trusted customer relationships
  • Develop and execute call plans to optimize customer coverage and sales opportunities
  • Build knowledge of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, products, clinical information, and sales practices
  • Share market intelligence with field, brand, and sales teams
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with healthcare providers
  • Identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates
  • Operate within AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws and regulations
  • Attend scheduled training events and sales meetings as needed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred
  • Relevant and equivalent industry experience required in lieu of a bachelor’s degree: at least five years of experience, including three or more years within the pharmaceutical, health, or science industry preferred
  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Proven track record of success in sales
  • Solid presentation skills
  • Scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge
  • Strong business acumen and proficiency with business tools
  • Strategic and critical thinking capabilities
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment
  • Collaborative partnership with district colleagues and matrix teams
  • Documented leadership and support experience at district, regional, or organizational levels
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe-driving requirements
  • Ability to travel adequately to cover the territory, including overnight training events and sales meetings
  • Ability to drive a personal auto, company car or truck, or powered material-handling equipment
  • Preferred pharmaceutical commercial experience, including physician/account-based selling, training, managed healthcare, or marketing
  • English proficiency verbally and in writing
  • Must satisfy applicable healthcare industry representative credentialing requirements and be in good standing or eligible to obtain them
  • May require background checks, drug screens, proof of immunization/vaccination, fingerprinting, and specific state or city licenses
