Role Description

The Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for scheduling and coordinating appointments, maximizing clinician schedules, verifying insurance, and providing a positive patient experience. The coordinator:

  • Answers incoming calls within appropriate timelines and meets productivity and quality standards set by the organization.
  • Reviews provider schedules daily to ensure maximum capacity is met.
  • Effectively communicates with clinical teams, nurses, and clinicians to relay information to the appropriate clinic as needed.
  • Adheres to policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure compliance and patient safety.
  • Participates in Compliance and other important training as a condition of employment.

This position is full time (40 hours/week) Monday - Friday. Employees are required to work an 8-hour shift schedule during normal business hours of 8:00 am – 4:30 pm MST. It may be necessary to work occasional overtime given the business need.

We offer 4-6 weeks of paid training. The hours during training will be 8:00 am to 5:00 pm MST, Monday - Friday. Training will be conducted onsite and will go remote after.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Accurately schedules and coordinates patient appointments for assigned clinics.
  • Works in a high call volume environment while meeting productivity and quality standards.
  • Analyzes provider schedules to ensure maximum capacity is met.
  • Obtains eligibility and benefit information in a timely manner, assigning FSC (Financial Class) benefits, and all other related activities (e.g., transfers, demographic data changes in EPIC).
  • Registers patients in EPIC, including updating patient demographics, current insurance information, current primary care provider, emergency contacts, and all relevant fields.
  • Uses appropriate text templates in the electronic health record, sends encounters using the electronic health record, and multitasks between business office systems and the electronic health record.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED OR equivalent work experience
  • Must be 18 years of age OR older
  • 1+ years of related customer service experience in a call center, medical office/healthcare facility, healthcare insurance carrier, OR scheduling field
  • Experience with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Microsoft Excel)
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology
  • Ability to work normal business hours from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm MST from Monday - Friday; may require occasional overtime

Requirements

  • 1+ years of healthcare experience to include scheduling experience and verification of eligibility and benefits

Telecommuting Requirements

  • Must reside within a 50-mile radius of our office located at 303 Roma Avenue NW, 5th floor, Albuquerque, NM 87102
  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service
